Ofir Dor

The history of art -apart from the esoteric and symbolism-, as a repository of works and ideas to work with, is a constant in his pictorial practice. In his works, ideas about painting, the gaze, symbolism, relationships, power, and even, in seconds, about the ways we have of thinking these same ideas, are activated.

His studio practice involves extensive work with drawing, often as an intermediate step between different iterations of the same subject. Through slight variations, experimenting with colour, composition, setting and gesture, she tries to achieve a balance between an energetic and raw state and a sense of balance and lucidity, not only by a deliberate structure, but rather by the fusion of image and painting, creating a unique and particular event where content and form are united to create meaning.
