Sema Castro

In his painting, gesture and process coincide. A piece will transform through movement, the process containing the enigma of what is ultimately represented.

Sema Castro (Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, 1960) lives and works on the island of Tenerife. His artistic practice began in 1990. He uses oil painting on rigid supports, mainly wooden boards on which he practices a technique of gestural automatism that suggests linked figures of an organic character, typical of a primitive Nature without a definitive appearance.
