César Schofield Cardoso was born in Mindelo, Cape Verde, in 1973. His current work deals with the post-colonial condition of Cape Verde, a small African country, extremely vulnerable to environmental, social, political and economic factors.
In general, the mapping of the problems posed by the postcolonial condition reflects the situation shared by other African countries, such as national representations and narratives, a social structure based on racial categorizations, the dominance of the colonial language over local languages, the lack of African perspectives in the teaching of history, the processes of neo-colonization, the cult of colonial memory, tourism and economic dependence on foreign organizations.
