Noemi Sjöberg

Noemi Sjöberg (1978) is Swedish. She has always been traveling. She has lived between Sweden, Spain and France. She was born in Madrid, grew up in Paris and Stockholm and currently resides in Barcelona. As an artist, she uses travel as support for creation. Wandering and surprise are essential. She does not travel with a plan, but the work arises in each situation, in the interaction of her concerns with the experience of the new environment. She is interested in the everyday, "until the ordinary becomes strange, extraordinary and unreal," says the artist.

From 1997 to 2002 she studied at École Supérieure des Beaux Arts d'Aix en Provence (France). Her main means of work are video, installation and photography. She has exhibited in various museums, galleries, and video festivals in countries such as Spain, France, Sweden, Morocco, Mexico, Germany, the Netherlands, Italy, China, Bulgaria, Russia, Cuba, Ecuador, and Argentina. She has carried out residences in Ca l'Estruch, in Sabadell; at Rice+ in Tokyo; and at Metronom, Fundació Rafael Tous d'Art Contemporani, in Barcelona.
