Guided Visit: Coming Back to Be a Monkey

Galería ATC 28 November 2020
Galería ATC 11:00-11.45

On Saturday, November 28, at 11 a.m., join us for a guided tour in English of artist Alona Harpaz's "Coming Back to Be a Monkey" exhibition, led by ATC Gallery Co-Director Elle Przybyla.

You will be able to see the paintings of this Israeli artist, resident in Berlin. Her works are in important collections, both private and institutional: Israel Museum Collection, Richard Prince Collection, Anita & Poju Zabludowicz Collection, Wendy Fisher Collection, Barbara Gladstone Collection, Chadra Collection, Michael L. Hittleman Collection and Sami & Anette Bollag Collection.

Harpaz's canvases reflect the renewed interest in figurative painting over the past two decades. It was in 2002 when the artist had her first solo exhibition at the Sommer Contemporary Art gallery in Tel Aviv. That work already prefigured her current painting. When Richard Prince first saw Alona Harpaz's work at Art Basel Miami Beach some years later, he wrote for ArtReview that the artist's paintings were "a meeting place of Matisse, Polke and Punk."
