Mexico. Expected/Unexpected

2009
Publisher: TEA Tenerife Space for the Arts

Catalog of the 2009 exhibition “Mexico. Expected/Unexpected” in collaboration with the Coppel Collection, from which all the works that are part of this exhibition come from, which invites us to explore contemporary Mexican art in dialogue with its historical precursors and with the international context in which it is inscribed. The Isabel and Agustín Coppel Collection is focused on historical photography (Manuel Alvarez Bravo, Tina Modotti, Helen Lewitt, William Eggleston) and contemporary Mexican painters and photographers (Enrique Guzmán, Julio Galán, Graciela Iturbide, Mariana Yampolsky), which approaches international art (Ed Ruscha, Gordon Matta-Clark, Dan Graham, Maurizio Cattelan, Kendell Geers, Jonathan Monk) and the young Mexican generation or those settled in Mexico (Gabriel Orozco, Francis Alÿs, Carlos Amorales, Damián Ortega, Mélanie Smith, Abraham Cruzvillegas). Languages: Spanish and English
